A ninety-minute field of tuned FM voices that changes with geological patience. Its major-scale material stays deceptively plain while timbre, register and density keep rebalancing the ensemble from within.
How the machine enters
Karlsson wrote the piece in SuperCollider using 32 six-operator FM voices, probabilistic parameter patterns and a weighted-choice loop. A fixed random seed makes its generative unfolding repeatable; the artist publishes the complete code and explains how changing that seed produces a new determinate version. No machine-learning claim is made.
