Wired Moth release note
Carver
Deep Glens
Hundreds of tape fragments become an album with warmth, swing and abrasion rather than nostalgia. Chance throws rhythmic and harmonic material together; Brett Bullion's ear turns those collisions into eight pieces that feel loose-limbed but decisively cut.
How the machine enters
Bullion recorded and hand-spliced hundreds of analogue tape loops containing rhythmic, harmonic and textural fragments, then used a chance procedure to select combinations. He transformed the results through speed changes, filtering and studio arrangement, making the random-selection rule materially formative while retaining human authorship. No machine-learning claim is made.
