Arnal’s physical voice meets a choir built from models of that same voice. The synthetic layers enlarge the emotional range of the songs without smoothing away their breath, grief or intimacy.
How the machine enters
Arnal developed a consented model of her own voice with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, then composed and produced the album around polyphonic layers of performed and synthesised self. The model extends her instrument; it does not replace her authorship.
